South Asian Women’s Creative Collective
I recently made it to the Board of Members of SAWCC, a 11 year creative collective of young women artists from south and central Asia. The first task I had getting on the Board was to revamp their website. I did it in none other than Wordpress! http://sawcc.org/ is a newborn alive and kicking baby who hates IE. Can we just boycott that browser! Please feel free to contact me with ways to get this IE compatible.
Wildernets
2 weeks leading upto Conflux had all of our adrenaline pumping! Wildernets started as a simple idea but took on a scale much larger than we were used to working in! This 16′x8′ blanket was embedded with the night lights from the northern hemisphere as well as sounds of the wilderness. It transports you into a land that is quite different from the hustle and bustle of street life in NYC. Meant to be a net that you carry on your back the piece is powered by a solar panel and is your complete mobile night sky.
Here are some pictures of the making of ‘Wildernets’
Public Farm 1
Work AC won the bid for the out door installation for PS1 this summer. This installation is a 3 month project where PS1 opens their out door courtyard to what they call the Summer Warm Up a dance party. Mouna Andraos, Michael Horan and I worked on a segment of this large installation that involved an off the grid Solar Panel structure that controlled fans and misters for the over heated dancers as well as 4 columns.
1. The Night Lights
2. Sounds from the Farm
3. Video from the Farm
4. A set of cellphone chargers
Each of these were Powered with DC current from the solar panel.
